DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A local museum is highlighting the life and legacy of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr.
The African-American Cultural & Genealogical Society Museum Of Illinois offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about the life of Rev. Doctor King Jr. and African American History. Evelyn Hood, founder and C.E.O., said she's encouraged by seeing students and adults interested in learning the history.
"Our history is not in the history books," she said. "I feel like in Decatur we are doing something really nice by exposing our culture and our history to students and grown-ups."
African-American Cultural & Genealogical Society Of Illinois, Inc. Museum is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and the first and third Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
