RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) —Rantoul police are looking for a suspect after an early-morning shooting sent a 25-year-old man to the hospital.
Police were notified by the village's gunshot detection system of multiple shots fired in the 1500 block of Marica Drive at 1 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived... they found a 25-year-old victim with non-life-threatening injuries.
One suspect is described as a male with a slim build wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark-colored pants. He was seen running from the scene and getting into a small SUV.
During the investigation, officers arrested a 47-year-old male for interfering with medical personnel and threatening police officers attempting to process the scene. The man was transported to the Champaign County Jail for obstructing police and firefighters.
Officers collected multiple handgun caliber shell casings on scene and are reviewing security video for further suspect information.
