SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) hosted its Back to School Bash Saturday.
The event included hands-on learning activities and games, and gave visitors the opportunity to get up close with animals from the Henson Robinson Zoo.
Organizers said the event is a way to bring the community together before the first bell rings.
"We are in the business of trying to help our community as much as possible and help bring all of those resources to one place, so parents don't have to go around the city or do some searching for different resources," Education Director Cindy Klenke said. "It's been a great way to get kids stocked up with some of those school supplies."
Students were also able to get free haircuts before heading back to school.
