SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The new Owen Marsh Elementary building in Springfield welcomed students and families to its inaugural ribbon-cutting event.
Guests got a chance to tour the new facility that students will move to.
There was also an opportunity to tour the old school before its demolition, which is set for next year.
Owen Marsh Principal Wendy Conaway said the new changes offer flexibility for the kids.
"The separate gym and cafeteria that allow you to have students eating lunch and gym at the same time, a lot of our elementary schools don't have that," Conaway said.
Students will begin classes in the new building this fall.
