SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Congratulations are in order for a Springfield high school teacher who was named the Horace Mann Educator of the Year.

Matt Maton, a social studies teacher at Southeast High School, was surprised with the news Monday afternoon.

Maton received $1,400 and an award from Horace Mann.

The other six finalists will get $250 each.
