DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -Â The Decatur Fire Department was called out for a fire Tuesday night.Â
The call came in around 6:30 p.m. that fire was showing from a bedroom in a home in the 800 block of East Main St.
The first arriving engine reported fire coming out of a first story window, stretched a hose line into the building, and extinguished the fire quickly.Â
The house was occupied, but the family was able to get out when they heard their smoke detectors going off. Three adults and three children escaped the house.Â
Ameren was notified and helped with securing the utilities to the building.
The Red Cross was contacted to help the family. AMR was requested to stand by.Â
The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation.Â
