MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) — The Mt. Zion community celebrated their twelfth year hosting Blue Ribbon Night in Fletcher Park on Wednesday. The annual celebration was created in order to bring the surrounding community together for the Fourth of July.Â
Tiffany Ivery, Event Coordinator for Mt. Zion said the main goal of Blue Ribbon Night is to bring people together. "It just brings a sense of community ... it's just nice to offer something for people to do that's free to get into and have fun with."
The event boasted multiple performances, many local food trucks, and even a firework show to end the night.
"We love providing entertainment and a big show," said Ivery, "It just means a lot to us to be able to get everyone in Mt. Zion and the surrounding areas together to have a fun, family-oriented night."
Ivery said she hopes people keep coming back year after year, just like she has. "I remember starting [to go to] this as a child, and I'm 31 and I'm still going. So our hope is — if this is your first year, your second year — is for you to just want to keep coming back and making family memories.
