ILLINOIS (WAND) – Lane closures are expected in Sangamon and Logan counties until early Friday morning.
Illinois State Police say Interstate 55 lanes will be closed in both counties until 6 a.m. on Aug. 3 for work, which the Illinois Department of Transportation is responsible for. Closures include:
Sangamon County
- Northbound right lane from mileposts 99-101
- Northbound right lane from mileposts 104-106
Logan County
- Southbound right land from milepost 115 to Sangamon County line (mile post 111)
Troopers say drivers should use “extreme caution” when driving through the affected areas because of construction vehicles moving through the work areas. They say heavy traffic congestion is expected.
Drivers are asked to find alternate routes if possible.
