Four deaths from crash that shut down I-57 SB near Pesotum

A deadly crash on I-57 north of Pesotum on May 24, 24.

UPDATE: 11:30 AM Saturday May 25th

We now know the names of the people killed in the crash Friday night on Interstate 57 in Douglas County. 

Douglas County Coroner says, they were all members of the same family. 

  • 53-year-old Quyen Nguyen from Elgin, IL
  • 64-year-old Bang Nguyen of Vietnam

  • 58-year-old Phuong Nguyen from Bartlett, IL

  • 68-year-old Tham Nguyen visiting from Vietnam

Dung Nguyen, 63, from Bartlett, IL is in critical condition. 

Illinois State Police are still investigating the crash. We'll keep you updated as we learn more details.

PESOTUM, Ill. (WAND) — A fatal crash shut down a portion of Interstate 57 southbound near Pesotum Friday evening.

Illinois State Police Troop 7 was on the scene around milepost 212 where a truck-tractor semi-trailer was traveling northbound and crossed the median into southbound traffic. At least four people have been confirmed dead and one has been seriously injured.

Traffic was rerouted off at exit 220 at Pesotum until around 10 p.m.
