DECATUR-ACT tests scores are in and there's a lot of room for improvement.

Only 23 percent of students in Illinois are ready for college in English, reading, math and science.

With an average composite score of 20.9 Illinois is below the national average of 21.1.

Stacey Hubbard, the dean of admissions at Millikin says for the past several years, they've been offering more remedial math and science classes to make sure their students can succeed.

"You know the last thing we want is for a student not to be prepared and then not be motivated to get their degree," Hubbard says.

Individual high school scores are not expected to be released to the public until this fall.
