1 arrested after incident prompts road closure in Menard County

ATHENS, Ill. (WAND) — One person was arrested after an incident caused a road closure in Menard County Saturday afternoon.

The Menard County Sheriff's Office shared in a Facebook post just before 4 p.m. that there was an "active law enforcement incident" happening on Gudgel Bridge Avenue east of Wolf Lane. That is about 17 miles northwest of Springfield, and just over 4 miles west of Athens.

The sheriff's office said deputies and other law enforcement agencies were on scene. Gudgel Bridge Avenue was closed at Boy Scout Trail and Price Street.

According to police, the incident ended around 4:45 p.m. and the road was reopened. Officers did arrest one suspect.

The details around the incident are unclear. The Menard County Sheriff's Office said more details will be released at a "later time."
