SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A 47-year-old man is dead after a head on collision near Shelbyville Saturday morning.
Illinois State Police responded around 9 a.m. to IL-16 at Shelby County Road North 2250.
According to police, the man was driving eastbound on Route 16 when he drifted into oncoming traffic, crashing into a semi-truck head on. It is unknown what caused the car to drift.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver, a 62-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was closed until about 3:14 p.m. Police are still investigating the crash.
