Decatur Park District to break ground on new senior activity center

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Park District is set to break ground on a new senior activity center.

The park district said the center, which will be located at Scovill Park West, will be a welcoming space for activities, socializing and valuable resources focused on senior well-being.

The community is invited to attend the groundbreaking at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

"It's gonna be a beautiful new senior facility with a workout area, a banquet area, a game room area, pickleball courts, it's gonna be just an awesome new indoor facility out there at Scovill Park West," said Ken Frye with the Decatur Park District.

"You can see renditions of this new building and what all it's going to entail, and I think there's even cookies involved, so I'm gonna be there for sure," Frye continued.
