GAYS, Ill. (WAND) — A home was heavily damaged and its garage was completely destroyed after a fire in Moultrie County Saturday night.

According to the Windsor Fire Protection District, crews responded to a garage on fire that was attached to a house in Gays around 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters found the garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire starting to spread to the connected house upon arrival.

With 20 mph winds, the fire quickly spread to the back side of the house and onto the roof of the two-story building, according to the department.

Firefighters said the garage was completely destroyed and the house suffered significant damage. All crews cleared the scene by 10:30 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt or displaced due to the fire.
