OAKWOOD, Ill. (WAND) – Flooding in east-central Illinois over the weekend along the Vermilion and Middle Fork Rivers closed roads and pushed debris down the Middle Fork.
“We’re looking at on the order of 100- and 200-year rainfall events,” Mike Albano of the National Service in Lincoln told WAND News. “It boggles the mind how much water has kind of fallen and has run off across the region.”
Water from the rivers flooded some basements. Ellsworth Park in Danville was also flooded.
A flood warning along the Vermilion River is expected to last into Wednesday morning, when the water will start to recede.
