CLINTON, Ill. (WAND) — One man was taken to the hospital after his home caught fire in Clinton Saturday morning.
According to the Clinton Fire Department, firefighters responded to a home near the intersection of West North Street and North Maple Street just after 1 a.m.Â
Crews found a one-story home with fire coming from the front door and two windows.
The department said the only person inside had evacuated and was outside the home with burns on his arms and hands. He was taken to the hospital.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, the department said. Nobody else was hurt, and crews cleared the scene around 5 a.m.
The victim is being helped by the American Red Cross. The department said the cause of the fire is not suspected to be suspicious, but is under investigation by the Illinois Fire Marshal's Office.
