DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A correctional officer with the Macon County Sheriff's Office, arrested in Decatur last month after police said he was driving drunk, has been fired.
According to the Macon County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), 46-year-old James Davis was fired April 6.
MCSO said Decatur police arrested Davis for driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
MCSO said it happened just before midnight on March 31 at the Circle K gas station on West Eldorado Street.
Davis was taken to the Macon County Jail, where later released with a notice to appear, police said. His initial court date is set for April 14.
The sheriff's office said Davis had been employed with the department as a correctional officer since October 2000.
