SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire at a government building Wednesday morning.
The department told WAND News that firefighters responded to the building at 320 West Washington Street around 9:30 a.m.
According to the department, there was a small fire in a storage closet on the 7th floor of the building.Â
A spokesperson with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation said no one was hurt.
The fire was on a floor that was not occupied. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The building was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The building will remain closed until an inspection by the City of Springfield is completed.
The building houses a number of agencies. Â
