SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Springfield city leaders will move forward with a plan to buy an almost half-a-million dollar armored vehicle for the police department.
The Lenco G3 pro armored vehicle would be used for emergency response and SWAT operations.
Springfield Police Chief Joe Behl met with several aldermen earlier Tuesday after some community concerns.
Behl said the piece of equipment would be available during community events, so neighbors are hopefully familiar with the BearCat before it's deployed for emergencies.
