SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Donors have helped women in Springfield get lifesaving breast cancer screenings.
Springfield Memorial Hospital conducted 31 free mammograms through its Mammogram Monday program in October, done to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month each year.
The tests were fully funded by donors through the Springfield Memorial Foundation.
Springfield Memorial Foundation Director Pam Hulten said there are more ways to give back without donating money during the holiday season.
"We have folks [who] make cards for patients. We have some folks who make little prayer pillows or blankets, things like that that do go a long way of providing hope and care and really just go the extra mile for our patients," Hulten said.Â
