SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — With severe thunderstorms rolling through Sangamon County, thousands of people are experiencing power outages Sunday night.

According to the Ameren Illinois outage map, 1,822 people are being affected by outages that started around 7:38 p.m. in Rochester.

The official cause and a restoration time are still being determined.

Springfield City Water, Light and Power also has crews responding to outages throughout the Springfield area.

CWLP said the largest outage area is impacting over 800 customers on a circuit from their Cornell substation. The station runs south of South Grand Avenue from Whittier Avenue to Douglas Avenue.

The company said crews are close to restoring power to areas around Ash Street and a group near Livingston Street, but there are still 12 other smaller pockets of power outages around the city.
