CASEY, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois State Police are investigating after a body was found in an open field near Route 49 in Casey Thursday. 

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department requested ISP DCI Zone 8 Investigations to conduct a death investigation into a 49-year-old man who was found dead in the field. 

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing. 

The person's identity and cause of death have not yet been released.
