CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Kofi Cockburn will be making a return to the State Farm Center in February to receive recognition for his time spent as one of Illinois' greatest centers.

During the men's basketball game against UCLA on Feb. 11, Cockburn's jersey will be added to the Illinois Basketball Honored Jerseys program.

"I'm extremely excited to return home after such a long time. It feels like decades since I've been back to Champaign," Cockburn said in a statement. "It is an absolute honor to have my jersey raised at State Farm Center, one I couldn't have received without the support of my staff, my teammates and the #1 fanbase in all of college basketball."

Cockburn was the 2020 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and 2022 University of Illinois Athlete of the Year. He currently plays overseas with the Seoul Samsung Thunders in South Korea.
