(WAND) - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced lanes that have been closed for construction will reopen for the Memorial Day weekend.Â
Non-emergency closures will be suspended from 3 p.m. Friday, May 22, to 11:59 p.m. Monday, May 25.Â
The following lane closures in our area will remain in place during the holiday weekend:Â
- Iroquois County - Southbound I-57 over Louis Creek near Buckley, northbound I-57 at the Buckley interchange, Illinois 1 over Little Beaver Creek south of St. Anne
- Champaign County - I-72 at I-57 in Champaign, I-74 at milepost 168 west of Mahomet
- McLean County - I-74 from milepost 122 to just west of the I-55/74 interchange, I-55 near Towanda, I-55 between the Mackinaw River and Lexington
- Piatt County - Illinois 32 over the Sangamon River south of Cisco
- Vermilion County - I-74 over Stoney Creek about 2 miles east of Illinois 49
- Christian County - Mount Auburn Road north of Taylorville
- Sangamon County - I-72 east of the Wabash Avenue interchange at Springfield
- Effingham County - I-57 at Watson, I-57 near the Green Creek Rest Areas north of Effingham, I-70 at Altamont
Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling through construction zones.Â
