DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - On Saturday St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church hosted a free community lunch.
The goal of the event was to provide a free meal for anyone in the community. Kathleen Laggah, 3 Queens, said the doors are open to anyone, but they really want to help the elderly, shut-ins and people who are displaced.
"It initially started with my grandmother. She always opened her home. So, we want to carry that on."
The lunch included ham, turkey, spaghetti, green beans, corn, rolls, and dessert.
Laggah hopes to continue this lunch into the future.
