DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) —A Decatur man was arrested after an hours long standoff with police.
Police were called to 3500 block of E. Redlich Drive just after 6 a.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, they found Jerad Thornell, 39 armed with a handgun. Police say, they received information that Thornell was going to kill his 39 year old wife and 13 year old stepdaughter.
After police established a perimeter around the home and Thornell left the home with his wife and stepdaugter. He then ran to a vehicle nearby and made numerous threats to harm himself with the gun.
After several hours of negotiating, Thornell was taken into custody.
He was booked in the Macon County Jail on Armed Violence, Home Invasion, and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint.
