Man hospitalized after being carjacked, shot in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A man was carjacked and shot in Champaign Sunday.

Champaign Police were dispatched at 8:54 p.m. to the 500 block of N. Edwin Street for a report of a shooting with injuries.

Officers found a 42-year-old man from Champaign with a non-life-threatening graze wound to the head.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Police said the victim was seated in his vehicle in a driveway when he was approached by three unknown men.

One suspect fired a gun at the victim before all three suspects pulled him out of his SUV and fled, taking the vehicle.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
