Man killed in overnight shooting in Springfield identified by coroner

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A man who was killed in an overnight shooting in Springfield has been identified.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, said Antoine Williams, 39, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 2 a.m.

He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Springfield Police Department said the shooting happened around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning when SPD got a call about shots fired near the intersection of 17th Street and Cook Street. They found a man in the front seat of a car with gunshot wounds.
