FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) — A man who was killed in a paragliding accident near Forsyth Tuesday morning has been identified.

The Macon County Coroner confirms the paraglider who died was 42-year-old Scott A. Edwards of Decatur.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office was called to East Hickory Point Drive just east of Forsyth at 10:30 a.m.

A motorized paraglider had crashed into a field while trying to land. Witnesses said a gust of wind inverted the craft, causing it to rapidly lose altitude and crash into a harvested soybean field.

Edwards' time of death was set at 12:25 p.m.

According to Macon County Coroner Michael Day, the man suffered a fatal head injury along with severe fractures of his lower extremities.

The accident is being investigated by the Macon County Sheriff's Office.
