CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A man who died in a fiery car crash in Champaign County in May has now finally been identified using DNA analysis. 

Champaign County Coroner Stephen E. Thuney confirmed Cody Messer, 32 years of age, of Fisher, Illinois, died on May 15 after a crash on County Road 900 East near 2400 North in Champaign County. 

The crash caused one of the vehicles to catch fire. 

The driver, now identified as Messer, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

At the request of the Champaign County Coroner’s Office DNA testing was

performed by the Illinois State Police to confirmed Messer's identity.
