DANVILLE, Ill. -- Meijer is opening a new store in Danville. It will be part of a retail center including Kohl's and another anchor store on N. Vermilion St., said Mayor Scott Eisenhauer.
Eisenhauer said location was key in choosing Danville.
"You're not just getting the 33,000 residents of Danville," said Eisenhauer, "You're getting Vermilion County, and you're also getting West Central Indiana along with the East Central Illinois market."
The new store will create jobs as well as help stimulate the city's economy and services for citizens.
"Police, fire, parks... 70% of that comes from city and state sales taxes," Eisenhauer said.
The store is set to open in 2013.
