MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) – A Thursday meth bust in Mattoon led to five people ending up behind bars.
Officers say they first arrested three people after stopping a car at around 7:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of Lafayette Avenue. A press release says 21-year-old Chelsea Langenhorst ran from the car and resisted arrest before police placed her in handcuffs. Officers also took Cody Endsley, 24, and 23-year-old Jordan Smith into custody.
Endsley and Smith face charges of meth possession with intent to deliver. A warrant was out for Langenhorst in connection to 2018 armed robbery charges after police say she failed to appear in court.
Police say then then went to Suite Dreams Hotel, located at 300 Broadway Avenue East, where they found over one pound of meth and more than $11,000 in cash in a hotel room just before 10:30 p.m. Officers arrested 30-year-old John Morgan and Crystal Cobb, 29, at that scene. Both face meth possession charges, with Morgan’s charge for possession with intent to deliver.
Officers say all five suspects are in the Coles County Jail Friday.
