On Jan. 9, Vermilion County State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy announced that new evidence was found in the shooting of Joseph Jones that negated the evidence against Derrell L Boston.

Murder charges against Boston have been dismissed.

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A Danville man is in custody following an investigation into a shooting in late December.

Derrell L Boston, 28, was arrested early on Jan. 4 for the murder of 35-year-old Joseph Jones of Champaign.

Danville police found Jones dead near the intersection of Collett and Williams on Dec. 21. An investigation into the shooting led to Boston being identified as a suspect.
