DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A man held a cat by the neck and is facing an animal torture charge for it, police say.
Officers say the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center heard about Facebook post showing a photo of a hand around the neck of a cat.. The caller – a feline rescue center operator from New York – pointed investigators to a person in Decatur who she believed knew more about the person responsible.
Police then searched Snapchat information associated with the picture and arrested Skyler Justison, 20.
A sworn statement says Justison admitted to holding the cat by the neck before taking a photo and sharing it on Snapchat. Police say it happened at the suspect's Decatur home.Â
Officers confiscated the animal, which appeared to be uninjured. The cat had white and dark coloring.Â
Justison’s charges include animal torture and depiction of animal cruelty. His bond is set at $5,000 in Macon County.
