EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) - A man was arrested with a stolen gun and drugs during a narcotics investigation in Effingham, police say. 

The Effingham Police Department and Effingham County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 810 South Fourth St. in Effingham on April 9.

The search warrant was the result of a joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Effingham Police Department, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

During the search, police said they seized methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and a stolen gun.

Law enforcement said there was also evidence consistent with use and distribution of drugs.

Derrick Alan Morrell, 41, of Effingham, was taken into custody for the following offenses:

• Possession of Methamphetamine (5 > 15 grams)

• Methamphetamine Delivery (5 > 15 grams)

• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)

• Possession of a Stolen Firearm

• Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number

Morrell remains in custody at the Effingham County Jail awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing and formal charging.
