DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Richland Community College continues to work to fully resolve a network disruption it experienced over a week ago.Â
On February 17, Richland Community College experienced a network security incident that caused a disruption to its systems.
Richland said the college's IT security team immediately initiated comprehensive security measures to assess the interruption.
"We are working closely with external cybersecurity professionals to restore normal operations as quickly as possible," Richland said in a statement Thursday.Â
This incident required the college to shut down parts of its network. Some of its IT assets still may not be fully available.
In-person classes continue as normal, and students can access online courses through Canvas by clicking HERE.
Network servers, phones, some department emails, and the college website are currently inoperable until the servers can safely go back online.
Student and faculty/staff emails are still available.
If you have any questions regarding billing or tax forms, the college said to email the Business Office (businessoffice@richland.edu).
For questions regarding registration, classes, scholarships, transcripts and more, staff in the Student Success Center (located in the north wing of our main building) are available for in-person assistance.
"We appreciate your understanding as we work through this issue. We take the security of our systems and the protection of our data seriously, and we are committed to ensuring the integrity of our network. Until we can restore system functionality, we will continue to work around the clock. We do not have any additional information to share at this time, but we will keep you apprised of relevant developments as the review continues," Richland said in a statement.Â
