SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Investigators are continuing to piece together the events that led to a triple homicide on Hoover Avenue in Springfield last week.
On Wednesday, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office released new details about the victims, stating that Devione Brady was shot outside the home, while Mhynesha Day and 9-year-old Cash Russell were found shot and killed inside.
Detectives are still working to determine why Brady was at the home and what role — if any — he played in the moments leading up to the deadly shooting.
According to a Sangamon County spokesperson, Sangamon County Sheriff's Deputies were called just after 2:30 p.m. to a home in the 3000 block of Hoover Avenue for a report of a shooting on Oct. 10.
Sangamon County detectives spotted a red SUV in the area at the time of the shooting.
Officers found a vehicle matching the SUV's description in the area of Governor and MacArthur in Springfield. Two women inside the vehicle were released at the scene, and the SUV was towed.
The investigation is still ongoing. WAND will continue to update this story as it develops.
