SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A Springfield man has been charged with eight counts of possession of child sex abuse material, each a Class 3 felony carrying a possible 5 years in prison per felony.
Anthony J. Marconi
Attorney General Kwame Raoul has charged 58-year-old Anthony J. Marconi in the Sangamon County Court with possession of child sexual abuse material.
"Survivors of sexual assault and exploitation may never fully heal from the trauma they have experienced, making it imperative that the perpetrators of these crimes be stopped," Raoul said. "My office's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will continue to partner with local law enforcement agencies to locate and bring to justice individuals who exploit minors."
Raoul said on October 23, his investigators, along with officers from the Springfield Police Department, completed a search warrant at Marconi's home in the 3000 block of East Enos Avenue in Springfield and found evidence of child sexual abuse material.
Marconi was a school bus driver employed by First Student, Inc., and officials encourage the public who have additional information to contact Special Investigator Tom Ritter at 217-678-7905.
“At First Student, our number one priority is the safety of our students, employees and the communities we serve. This driver was immediately placed on administrative leave,” said Chris Coyle, First Student Area General Manager. “We will continue to assist law enforcement with the ongoing investigation.
Marconi is due back in court on November 14 and is currently detained at the Sangamon County Jail.
