Sexual exploitation of sleeping minors leads to prison sentence

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) – A Tolono man who involved minors in sexual activity while they were sleeping is going to prison.

Joshua E. Lange, 40, will spend 45 years behind bars after pleading guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation of children. He had videos and photos of the sexual acts in his basement.

Prosecutors say the sexual exploitation happened between September 2015 and January 2017. Lange entered a guilty plea on April 27, 2018 after U.S. Marshals arrested him on Nov. 3, 2017.

He was found guilty in a different case of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, after investigators found photos of sexual conduct showing at least three other minors doing sexual things. Lange’s sentencing for that crime is scheduled for Nov. 13.

“We will continue to work with our state and federal partners to identify these predators and bring them to justice,” said U.S. Attorney John C. Milhiser in a press release.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Champaign County deputies and Champaign police were involved in the investigation, along with the Champaign County State’s Attorney.
