SPRINGFIELD----The office of public works says several streets in the city will be under construction beginning Monday, June 27.
Work will be done to replace portions of curb and gutter, and also sidewalks and accessible ramps.

- 17th St (Carpenter-Matheney)
- 5th St (Madison-Carpenter)
- 6th St (Griffiths-Percy)
- Claymont Ct
- Douglas (Fayette-Edwards)
- Douglas (Lawrence-Edwards)
- Eastman (5th-8th)
- Edwards (MacArthur-Glenwood)
- Illinois (Governor-Jefferson)
- Keokuk
- MacArthur (Lawrence-Edwards)
- Matheney (15th-19th)
- Miller (15th-19th)
- Monroe (2nd-3rd)
- Phillips (15th-16th)
- Shabbona (Shawnee-Piper)
- Timber Hill Ln
- Winnebago (Arrowhead-east end)
Construction is anticipated to last up to one month, weather permitting.Â
Also beginning June 27, the following streets will be under construction in preparation for resurfacing of the roadways:
- Buckhorn
- Cass (7th-9th)
- Edwards (4th-5th)
- Enos (5th-9th)
- Glenwood (Canedy-Governor)
- Jackson (2nd-4th)
- Mason (Walnut-2nd)
- Redbird
- Walnut Valley
This work is anticipated to last up to two weeks, weather permitting.
Work continues on the following street to rehabilitate the brick pavement and to remove and replace portions of curb and gutter:
•    Lowell (Outer Park-Ash)
For the above roadways, bricks and old patches will be removed, the existing concrete base will be replaced and graded, and a brick surface will be reinstalled. Construction is anticipated to last up to one week, weather permitting.Â
Beginning Wednesday, June 29, the following streets will be under construction to rehabilitate the brick pavement and to remove and replace portions of curb and gutter:
- 4th St (Broad Place to south end)
- Broad Place (5th-6th, south side)
For the above roadway, bricks and old patches will be removed, the existing concrete base will be replaced and graded, and a brick surface will be reinstalled. Construction is anticipated to last up to one month, weather permitting.Â
Crack-filling operations are continuing on West Washington St (Old Bradfordton Rd-Chatham Rd) and along various asphalt roadways within the City. This work is anticipated to last up to two weeks, weather permitting.Â
For all construction projects, motorists are encouraged to slow down and be aware of workers and equipment in and near these roadways. Pedestrians should use caution or plan for alternative routes where streets are closed.
