Springfield, IL- Springfield residents rallied to save their annual Fourth of July fireworks display.
The city was on the verge of canceling the show this year because of budget concerns. As a last ditch effort, the city entered Liberty Mutual's "Bring Back the 4th" contest.
Their efforts paid off, as Springfield was one of ten cities nationwide to receive a $10,000 grant
ICG Illinois kicked in another $7,000 to help save the show. Event organizers say the contributions couldn't have come at a better time.
The Capitol City Celebration kicks off Saturday evening at 5 p.m.
