SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) —  Springfield Police say that a deadly weekend shooting was preceded by a fight at a local bar.
The shooting happened a little after 2 a.m. on Sunday in the 400 block of South Illinois Street. The victim, a 29-year-old man, been been shot around 12 times, according to SPD. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The coroner identified the man as Telley Palmer of Columbus, Ohio.
Detectives and crime scene techs found around 35 shell casings at the scene. At least three different guns were used, one of which was recovered at the scene.
Police say the shooting stemmed from an earlier fight at a local Springfield bar. Multiple individuals were involved in the fight, but police were not called at that time.
