SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois Senate Republicans hope Gov. JB Pritzker will include no tax and fee increases in his budget proposal Wednesday.

GOP leaders told reporters in Springfield Tuesday that Illinois Democrats need to learn to live within their means. Although Republicans said they want to be invited to the table for budget negotiations to help accomplish that goal.

Senate Minority Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) stressed Pritzker cannot blame the president for the state's financial woes.

"If he is serious about protecting Illinois' fiscal solvency, he will start by making the difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions needed to constrain state spending, reduce taxes and improve economic opportunity for all Illinoisans by inviting capital investments in Illinois," Curran said.

Pritzker will give his State of the State and Budget Address at noon Wednesday. WAND News will have full coverage on air and online.
