Three Kings of Peace purchase fitness center in Danville

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Three Kings of Peace in Danville have purchased the Roselawn Fitness Center in hopes to curb some of the violence in the community.

Pastor Frank McCullough says with this he hopes kids can build some muscle, learn some dance skills, but also life skills like respect and discipline.

"This building also has a daycare. We find out that they're starting young these days with the disrespect not only to their parents but to their teachers so we want to be able to grab them and try to say 'hey this is where we need to go,'" said McCullough

They're also trying to teach children that they can pivot that energy into something more positive for their lives.

"That's what I want to try and teach our young boys. I mean, put all that energy into something positive. Come on over and let's lift some weights, let us talk and rap and we'll be mentoring at the same time," said member of The Three Kings of Peace, Edward Butler.
