PIATT COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – Two men lost their lives when two dump trucks crashed in central Illinois.
The crash happened after 5 p.m. Monday, when troopers say a driver ignored a stop sign at the intersection of Route 105 (William Street Road) and Northeast County Line Road in Piatt County. Both victims died at the scene.Â
Piatt County Coroner Troy Dunn says Decatur man Russell Foster, 53, and 65-year-old Monticello man Kenneth Allen lost their lives. State police say a driver whose name is not yet public was behind the wheel of a truck where Allen was a passenger as it moved northbound on Northeast County Line Road. They say that truck passed the sign.Â
The truck hit Foster's dump truck on the driver's side.Â
Troopers say they're continuing to investigate on Tuesday. More details about possible charges are pending.
