Woman shot in the chest after gun fired outside Urbana Township house

URBANA TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WAND) - A woman was shot after police said someone opened fire outside an Urbana Township home.

Champaign County Sheriff's deputies were called to Northwood Drive around 2 a.m.

Deputies found a 40-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her chest and arm. She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Deputies said the shooting happened outside the home with at least one bullet entering the house and hitting the woman.

Deputies are not sure what led up to the shooting.
