The Massey commission is reflecting on their work to enact change following one of the former EMT's accused of killing Earl Moore Jr. in 2022 pleading guilty in court Friday morning.
Two former ambulance workers accused of killing a patient will be tried separately. Peter Cadigan and Peggy Finley were arrested in January 2023 for the murder of Moore Jr. The now-former Lifestar Ambulance EMTs are accused of strapping Moore face-down on a stretcher, resulting in his death.
Since court proceedings began, EMS workers Peggy Finley and Peter Cadigan were blamed for killing Earl Moore Jr., and are now allowed to pursue two separate trials, per a Sangamon County judge.
A large amount of discovery still needs to be handed over to the defense; that’s the reason a 2022 murder case won’t go to trial until May 2026.
