Meteorologist Alivia Colon joined the WAND Weather team in July 2025 as a Midday and Weekend Morning Meteorologist.
She comes from Alpharetta, Georgia, where she was born and raised, before heading to Virginia Tech and graduating with a degree in meteorology and a minor in Spanish. After graduating, she spent her first two years of her career in Elmira, New York, at WETM as the morning meteorologist.
While there, she gained experience in a wide range of weather conditions, from severe to winter and even tropical. She's proud to have worked under a team of all-black female meteorologists, which was the first of its kind in the nation's history. Then, right before leaving Elmira, she was awarded best weathercaster for the New York State Broadcasters' Association Awards for her coverage of severe weather during Hurricane Beryl.
Alivia has had a love for weather and science since she was a young girl and hopes to serve as a representation for other young girls who wish to pursue higher education and careers in STEAM.
Alivia is an aunt, a plant mom, and she loves to cook and hike. She looks forward to making central Illinois her new home and getting to know her community. Feel free to say hi when you see her!
