(NBC CHICAGO) - The Chicago Bears have revenge on their minds as they take on the Green Bay Packers Saturday night, but there’s a lot more at stake than that.
The Bears are currently 10-4 on the season, and they hold the top spot in the NFC North heading into Week 16 action. The Packers are hot on their heels, with a record of 9-4-1 on the year.
With firm control of the NFC North race at stake, the Bears and Packers will certainly leave it all on the field Saturday, but just how long has it been since the Bears beat Green Bay at Soldier Field?
Last season, the Bears snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Packers when they stunned Green Bay at Lambeau Field on the final Sunday of the season.
Before that victory, the Bears had last won against the Packers on Dec. 16, 2018, which is also the last time that the team has beaten Green Bay at Soldier Field, a whopping 2,561 days ago.
That victory was a huge one for the Bears, as they clinched the NFC North title and a home playoff game. That is also the last time the Bears won the division title, a fact they are hoping to change this season.
A win over the Packers on Saturday night would go a long way toward that goal. If the Bears beat the Packers, they would be just one Detroit Lions loss away from clinching a playoff berth, which would be their first since the 2020 season. The Lions play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, meaning the Bears’ playoff drought could be over within 24 hours if they can beat the Packers.
A win over the Packers would also put the Bears just one win away from sealing the division title, with a road game against the 49ers and a home game against the Lions to wrap up the regular season.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 7:20 p.m., with the game airing on Fox.
