DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A man involved in a shooting at a Decatur Moves van in February was sentenced Thursday.
The shooting happened on February 6 near the intersection of North Portage Place and East Mound Road.
A sworn statement said that Javonta Donley and Devon Garrison were getting a ride through the Decatur Moves program.
An investigation revealed that both men started arguing as Donley got out of the van. Decatur police said Donley then shot at Garrison, who then shot back.
Both men ran from the scene and were later arrested. The driver and a woman still inside the van at the time were not hurt.
Donley was sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by up to six months of mandatory supervised release. He was given credit for previous time served from February 7 to July 15.
Garrison was sentenced to 1 year in IDOC on July 8.
